Where better to showcase this elegance than in one of Australia’s great country gardens, at Markdale Station in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales? Markdale’s two-hectare garden was started in the 1920s and redesigned in 1947 by the pioneering Australian landscaper Edna Walling to feature “sweeping lawns merging with mown paddock, informal curving paths leading the eye onward to the enchanting hidden depths of the garden and to the hills beyond”.
